Caring for Your Flowers

Fresh Flowers - Bouquets

Once the bouquet is received, you will need to trim 2cm off each stem on an angle and place the stems in a clean vase of cold, fresh water. You may choose to remove the wrapping paper or not base on your preference. Then, remove any leaves that may have fallen below the water line, as this will lead to bacteria growth in the water.

If your are supplied with a sachet of flower preservative, follow the instructions on the sachet and add to the vase. If not, you will be able to also extend the longevity of your flowers by changing the water daily, and recutting the stems every 2-3 days.

All the steps are summarized as follows:

(a) Fill a vase with 2/3rds of clean, cold water.

(b) If necessary, remove flowers from its wrapping

(c) On an angle, trim 2cm off the ends of all stems.

(d) Remove any leaves that fall under the water line.

(e) Change water and repeat Step (c) of trimming stems every 2-3 days

Fresh Flowers - Arrangements

We use floral form for most of our arrangements – flowers that are arranged in a container. The floral foam should be fully saturated when you receive the arrangement, but this will need to be topped up to ensure that the foam does not dry out. Remove any spent flowers to inhibit the growth of bacteria.

To extend the longevity of your blooms, the arrangements need to be kept out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources (heaters, ovens, etc) and also away from the fruit bowls (which may release ethylene gas to accelarate aging of flowers). So, choose a wise place to display your flowers.

Also, take care with pets as some flowers can be harmful if consumed.

All the steps are summarized as follows:

(a) Keep the arrangement out of direct sunlight and away from heaters, fruits and pets.

(b) Check the arrangement daily to see if the foam is still damp.

(c) If dry, slowly add cold water through the centre of the arrangement until it is nearly overflowing.

(d) Remove any spent flowers.

Preserved/Dried Flowers

Preserved flower arrangements, with their beautiful and unique designs as well as long-lasting nature, hold significant artistic and collectible value. However, due to the special materials used in their creation, they are relatively delicate and fragile, requiring careful handling and protection.

By following the below steps, you can enjoy the beauty of your dried flower arrangement for years!

(a) Keep Away from Direct Sunlight. Place the arrangement in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight, as UV rays can cause fading and brittleness over time.

(b) Avoid Humidity and Moisture. Keep the arrangement in a dry environment to prevent mold or decay. Avoid placing it in areas with high humidity, like bathrooms or kitchens.

(c) Handle with Care. Preserved and dried flowers are fragile and can easily break. Avoid frequent touching or moving of the arrangement.

(d) Dust Gently. Use a soft brush or a gentle burst of air (e.g., from a hairdryer on a low, cool setting) to remove dust. This will keep the flowers looking fresh and vibrant.

(e) No Watering Needed. Preserved and dried flowers do not require water. Watering can damage them and lead to mold.

The above guidelines are summarized from our many years of experience. If there are any errors or omissions, we sincerely welcome your feedback and suggestions. If you have better recommendations, we also encourage you to share them with us at any time. Thank you!
